We remember when this knife was introduced at the International Housewares Show in Chicago. Wusthof had this big, gorgeous booth, and had samples of this knife for us to demo. Nearby they had a basket with Band-Aids! Hey, accidents happen, and this knife means business.
A typical bread knife, including the ones Wusthof had always made prior to this, has a single set of serrated teeth, and a little bit of flex to the blade. They do the job, slicing through bread with ease. But this knife...THIS knife, holy cow. With two sets of serrated teeth, and a slightly thicker, stiffer blade, this knife will not only go through bread but through pineapples, watermelons, and squash. With those tougher skins, you don't want that blade flexing on you, you want it to be where you expect it.
